Designed By You Special Occasions Fashions Review and Giveaway

**Giveaway is now closed.**

I don't know if you're like me, but I was totally hooked to Project Runway this season. Now that it's over I've considered asking for a dress form this Christmas and trying my hand at some fashion desinging of my own. That's why I was so excited when the folks over at Creativity for Kids asked me to do a review of their Designed by You Special Occasion Fashions Activity Kit.
It has everything a budding fashionista (or whatever the guy version of fashionista is!) would need to create amazing designer originals. Totally unplugged and learning exactly the way I learned to sew... trial and error! All you need to do is add imagination… and in my opinion those are the very best kinds of gifts for kids!

When I received the kit I was struck by how big it is! It has more than 60 high quality pieces. This video has a great overview of all of the pieces. I took this beautiful (ha!) picture of me in my sweats to show you the scale of the box. What little girl wouldn't be thrilled to open this box this Christmas?
That brings me to the targeted audience for this gift. The box says that it's for anyone ages 9-99, but I would narrow that a bit to say ages 9-15 although, I could also see it being a super fun team building exercise for a group of women from a MOPS group or a group from your church. Can't you see a big group of competitive moms getting into making Barbie clothes together!? I think it would be hilarious!
There are a million and one (almost!) teeny little accessories and trims. Included is: Mannequin, Satin Dress, Assorted Fabrics, Assorted Trims, Spools of Thread, Sewing Needles and Threader, Thimble, Pins, Pin Cushion, Scissors, Tape Measure, Fabric Swatches, Sketch Book, Pencils and Sharpener, Iridescent Sparkle Accent, Silver Sparkle Accent, Satin Roses, Satin Bows, Tiaras, Velvet Accessories Storage Bag, Instructions and Ideas.

I love that this is also a learning tool. What are the differences between A-line, Empire, Halter, and Mermaid dresses? What does Draping, basting, applique and embellishment mean? I would have totally eaten this up when I was younger!
So it's a $39.99 value and THREE of you will be getting them for free!! You have two opportunities to win. Here are the details:
  • Leave me a comment and let me know what you're asking for from Santa
  • Leave your email address in your comment.
  • For a second entry, become a follower of Create Studio and leave me a second comment, also with your email address.
  • Giveaway is open to anyone in the U.S. with a normal mailing address.
  • Three winners will be picked via random.org and emailed with additional info.
  • Giveaway will end Friday 12/10/10 at noon (Eastern Time)

Well, I'm not asking for much this year because I already got a new netbook for an early Christmas gift, but I'm always up for some more books and earrings. : )

Christmas came early this year when my wonderful hubby found a great deal on the Cricut machine that I've been dieing to get my hands on.
I hope that MR.Santa will bring me some more cartridges for it on Christmas morning.
I can't wait to start creating with it- I've ordered some nifty vinyl and I'm sure my house will be covered in those trendy little quote wall clings and graphics. ( =
What's on your Christmas list this year?

I am already a follower of Create Studio. I stumbled across your blog a few weeks ago and I'm enjoying so many of your tutorials. I am actually working on a quick post for my blog about your bookhouse tutorial. I made one too and it's super cute!
I would love to win this awesome give away, because I am trying to teach my little sister (15) how to sew, and I think this would be a great gift for her. It looks like a great little product that would get her creative juices flowing! I'm keeping my fingers crossed on this one. Thanks for reviewing and offering us the opportunity to win.
